Single Origin Store, Chiangmai is the adaptive reused project, reusing old house to be functioning as a micro roaster lab for the brand's coffee business. The design is guided by brand’s principles of humility, locality, and crafted sensory experience, which is developed strongly from its first flagship store, The Phae Gate branch. This project situated in San Phisuea, a residential area of Chiang Mai, the space is designed to harmonise with its natural surroundings and reflect the calm rhythm of northern Thai life.
The structure features a low-profile form with clean lines, natural ventilation, and extensive use of locally-sourced materials. A pitched roof with deep overhangs provides shade and rain protection, while large openings allow cross-ventilation and visual connection with the surrounding garden. The building is oriented to reduce solar gain, taking advantage of natural light without compromising thermal comfort.
The interior focuses on a minimal yet warm aesthetic — using neutral tones, ceramic tiled textures, and tactile materials. The coffee beans are used as the ground cover at the bottom of the sunken dining stairs. The stepped down makes whole space more grounded also creates spatial layout that encourages flow and openness, with zones that support different activities — from quiet corners for reading to communal tables for conversation and cupping sessions.
The overall design intention is to create a sensory space that mirrors the values of the café: authenticity, origin, and craft — where both architecture and interior become a silent companion to the coffee journey.
