Scholzberg was built out of our joy at having been able to buy a plot of land, and in the oldest tradition we raised a high building on it. The ancient Greeks would have called it an omphalos, a “navel of the earth”. In this project, we worked in collaboration with Honza Mach, and succeeded with an absolutely elementary plan, in which the circular rotation of the spiral staircase is inscribed into the rectangular space so that it just misses the corners and slightly sticks out on the sides. What appeared was a kind of rotating staircase, slightly recalling the double helix of the DNA molecule, one of those pleasant surprises that occasionally happen to us builders. The degree of planning in this building was absolutely perfect, and it’s wonderful that it was built entirely by students. Another wonderful thing is that most of our neighbours and visitors fi nd this structure to be welcoming, attractive and Pleasant. //

Šroubovice je vepsána do čtverce. Použiji prkna a latě délky čtyř metrů přímo z pily, nic nehobluji nic nesuším.
