The Drew house is a holiday retreat for a well know Australian photographic  artist, Marian Drew, and her family. It's one of her works on the indoor/outdoor shower door.

The family took camping trips to the area in their youths so the house aims to  create a kind of luxury campsite amongst mature Bloodwoods trees and  Palms near the ocean at, Seventeen Seventy, a town just south of  Gladstone and the most northerly surf break on the east Australian coast  at the start of the Great Barrier Reef.

Living and sleeping pods along with a bath house were built in Brisbane,
close to construction services and transported 500km to the site fully
completed. The prefabricated parabolic roofed structure and decks were
erected onsite and connect the various pods through a large central
outdoor living and dining area. Aramax metal roof sheeting free span the two identical, but reversed, hardwood self-bracing truss frames.

Natural oiled Australian hardwood timbers and other low-finished simple materials  combine with the dynamic indoor/outdoor spaces to create an environment for the maximum enjoyment of the wonderful bushland setting and mild sub-tropical climate. The separated living, sleeping and bathing pods allow for privacy of  holidaying family groups and also easily integrate amongst the existing mature trees.

Rainwater tanks, solar hot water and electrical panels and a energy efficient passive design make the house largely self sufficient.
