About me
Wayne Congar is a designer and editor based in New York. Currently, he is the Architecture Editor at Actar, an art, architecture and design publisher with its heaquarters in Barcelona. In addition to leading the editorial efforts for Actar's North American publications, he is responsible for developing alternative content formats and distribution strategies, forging strategic relationships with universities and cultural institutions and acquiring new titles. As a designer, Wayne has worked as a design and strategy consultant for 2x4, developing successful brand environments for Procter & Gamble, Nike and CLO Wines. He has worked as an architect for Rem Koolhaas/OMA in Rotterdam and Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in Copenhagen. While at OMA, he contributed to the design of the Prada Transformer, a rotating exhibition space for Italian fashion house, Prada. With BIG, he expanded project documentation efforts, producing animations that gained widespread recognition for the firm. Wayne's personal work, including entries to design and architecture competitions, has been widely exhibited in galleries in London, New York and Rotterdam. His design work and writing has been featured in The New York Times, Volume Magazine, Icon, Surface Magazine, The Handbook for Computational Arts, among others. Wayne is the co-founder of the Imagining Recovery Project, a multi-platform effort to reclaim the imagination in the design industry and question the role of designers in politics. Additionally, Wayne co-founded The Laboratory for Research, Architecture and Design (LabRAD), a student think-tank dedicated to exploring collaborative working models through the rapid production of design competition submissions. Wayne received his Master of Architecture from Columbia University GSAPP and his B.A. in Urban Design from New York University as a Presidential Honors Scholar, graduating Summa Cum Laude and awarded the Founder's Day Prize for Academic Excellence.
