Brian PickardArchitectural Designer, also Interior Architect, Educator, Lighting Designer, Urban Designer |
About me
I founded pickard-design, ltd., a concept and process driven multidisciplinary collaborative studio, in 2005. Through our collective work we have competed in multiple national and international design competitions and worked in collaboration with numerous artists, architects, designers, and planners and have completed dozens of projects ranging from residential remodels and new-builds to interiors and custom furnishings and from limited production products to corporate web sites. Our work has received critical recognition, including several academic and industry awards, and has been featured in several publications and gallery exhibitions. Concurrent with my independent pursuits, I have worked as a Designer and Project Architect for several firms, including Blostein/Overly Architects, James Bradberry Architects, and Varenhorst, contributing to numerous academic, institutional, commercial, and mixed-use projects over the last seven years. I am extremely passionate about both sustainable design and academic pursuits. I lectured at the KSA from 2005 to 2007, where I started the Portfolio Design Lecture Series and Workshops in 2005 and acted as the Graduate Advisor to the Ohio State Chapter of the AIAS from 2006 to 2008. I have also acted as a Guest Studio Critic at The Ohio State University, Temple University, and Drexel University. As a professional, I hope to blur the line between the stereotypes of academia and professional practice, to test theories through application, and to influence others to question and explore their own ideas through my example.
