About Marchetto Higgins Stieve
Marchetto Higgins Stieve is an award winning firm offering a full range of architectural, planning, and design services from project feasibility through construction administration for both private and public sector clients.
While the firm has a history of public and institutional projects it maintains a strong focus on the specific needs of the real estate developer. With an extraordinary record of completed projects ranging from individual townhouses to high-rise mixed-use urban developments the firm possesses a broad knowledge of the development process that can only come from experience. The work has shown a consistency for inventive contextual solutions and has provided the new face for Hoboken’s incredible revitalization from the days of decay and decline to its success as New Jersey’s hottest come back City.
Guided by the principles of New Urbanism, all projects seek to balance issues of appropriate maximum density, mixed use, open space, affordability, and sustainability along with the formal concerns associated with each projects context. Although most of the work is modern, traditional architectural features such as brick facades with vertical punched openings, stone lintels & sills, window bays, and cornice details, are all reinterpreted into a new urban architecture designed to harmonize with adjacent older buildings.
Established in 1982 by founding principal Dean Marchetto, AIA the firm was incorporated in 2000 and joined by partners Michael Higgins, AIA and Bruce Stieve, AIA. The firm employs a staff of design professionals and insures that each project receives the attention, talent, and experience of each of the three principals.
