Ladies and gentlemen, let us introduce the winner of our biggest book giveaway ever! We began the contest as a celebration of the launch of our daily newsletter, and after sorting through countless entries, we finally settled on one lucky reader. This special subscriber will receive a hot-off-the-press copy of 20th Century World Architecture: The Phaidon Atlas, the definitive guide to key buildings from the 1900s. Since this was no ordinary giveaway (did we mention this colossal tome clocks in at 18 pounds?) we decided to profile our winner, Shmuel Flaum, a New York architect. Click through to learn more!

Literally. We mean it. We’re giving away a new copy of 20th Century World Architecture: The Phaidon Atlas, the definitive guide to all of the key buildings from the last century. The massive tome, which weighs in at just over 18 pounds (!), charts a trajectory of architectural production from 1900-1999 and encompasses some 750 structures in support of that history. The projects are arranged according to their geographical locations, with both iconic and “regional” architecture interspersed so as to inspire new readings and affiliations among more familiar and newer works.
This emphasis on a building’s regional context, along with its concomitant aesthetic and political associations, is a means to visually track the migratory patterns (and seizures) of architectural ideas, something which the book expertly achieves. With over 3,000 color images and 2,500 black-and-white photographs, 20th Century World Architecture is a must-have for all architecture fans, students, and practitioners. And it can be yours! Click through to find out how!
