Featured Project: Secondary School Of Primary Colors And Concrete By CVDB
February 7, 2013
Project: Braamcamp Freire Secondary School
Architect: CVDB Arquitectos
Location: Pontinha, Portugal
As part of Portugal’s “Modernization of Secondary Schools Programme,” CVDB was selected to rehabilitate a school built in 1986, in the Lisbon suburb of Pontinha. Corridors were built to connect the original building’s five separate prefabricated units, uniting the complex under one roof. By applying bold primary colors to in situ concrete slabs, the school is an icon for the ambitious goals that Portugal has set for its public school systems.
