Project: La Laguna House

Architect: Beautell Arquitectos

Location: San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Canary Islands, Spain

Function:  Located in the UNESCO-designated city center of La Laguna, Beautell Arquitectos was required to follow strict restoration protocols in their refurbishment of a neglected historic building. To accomodate a new function as a single family residence, the design needed to balance the competing needs of contemporary living and respect for the remaining historic character of the building. Poured concrete and expansive use of hardwood highlight the humble materials and careful craftsmanship of the original structure while incorporating a modern design sensibility.  Read more about this project in the Architizer database.
