The Five Most ‘Moving’ Projects At Design Miami

Only a GIF can truly capture the most captivating moments from Design Miami. That’s why we’ve made five! Above is Booo’s Surface Tension Lamp (by FRONT), a light fixture that blows a continuous stream of incandescent bubbles which stopped visitors in their tracks and created a permanently hypnotized crowd surrounding the booth. Following last year’s responsive light carpet installation by BIG, the Audi exhibition this year focused on a material exploration. Walking by the exhibition we could see the Le Mans-winning R18 Ultra race car transform into a R18 Ultra Chair - the lightest-weight chair physically possible.
This 3D-printed robotic fruit bowl designed by Noam Dover and Amit Drorigoes goes for an astounding $11,500. You can check it out in person at the Design Space Tel Aviv booth.
The dazzling sparkle of the Swarovski installation by Asif Kahn was inescapable, its 1.3 million Swarovski crystals creating a halo of light that followed visitors around the room like Mona Lisa’s gaze.
At the entrance to the tent, the late afternoon sun sent beams of light through openings in Snarkitecture’s Drift Pavilion where attendees stopped and lounged before moving on.
