A few weeks ago, we showed you exterior photos of the ethereal Louvre-Lens, designed by SANAA with Imrey Culbert. Today, we bring you just-released interior shots of the Gallery of Time! As you might imagine, this modern venue looks nothing like the formidable institution’s Parisian home—the Palais du Louvre, which opened in 1793.

The new museum was built in an unlikely location: Lens, a former coal-mining town in northern France. The Louvre’s goal with the facility is to boost its visitor numbers while also providing opportunities for curatorial experimentation (its Parisian outpost, in terms of layout, is rather restrictive). Judging by the recent images, this new space certainly is flexible. Click through to see the photos!
