J. Mayer H. Expands German Business School With New Zig-Zag Lecture Hall

November 27, 2012

Ze Germans have called in J. Mayer H. Architects to create a new seminar building for the private business university, FOM (Fachhochschule fuer Oekononmie und Management, duh) in Dusseldorf. The prestigious school has accepted so many bright pupils that its campus is nearly bursting at the seams! This new building will include plenty of seating, new office areas, fun maze-like outdoor walkways, and an underground parking structure to keep the campus full of lush green spaces. Read more!

The new building is the utmost in form and function. Cantilevered balconies and levels help to open the various spaces and create a fluid environment. The white cut-out facade also makes the structure less of an obstructive mass and more of a sculptural piece of work that sits atop the campus lawn. The 1,400-seat auditorium sits in the center of the building, reachable by any number of the stairways that dart up, down, and across the structure.

The new FOM building is expected to be finished and full of students in 2014.
