Building Of The Day: Nifty Pop-Up “Street Furniture” Perfect For Picnics
November 26, 2012
Building: DUNE
Architect: Jérémie Koempgen Architecture
Location: Paris, France
Why We Liked This:
OK, so it’s not a building, per se. Consisting of a series of portable modules, the DUNE project is designed as “street furniture” for any and all public spaces, giving pedestrians a place to sit and read, chat, and picnic. The tiny wood pavilions double as planters or “parklets”, something that’s become somewhat of a trend among hip architects and their flair for all things pop-up. The units can be aggregated into larger clusters and configured to suit the needs of any urban situation. See more of this project in the Architizer database here.
