Dubai High-Rise Catches Fire!

The Dubai skyline is known to dazzle, but not quite like this. Late on Saturday evening, a 34-story residential building called the Tamweel Tower became consumed in flames. Hundreds of inhabitants fled the tower and watched streaks of fire run all the way down the sides of the building. Tamweel Tower, which was built by JLT Architects as part of the Jumeirah Lakes Towers luxury complex, isn’t far from the Al Tayer Tower, a 40-story residential high-rise that caught ablaze earlier this year. While its uncertain how this latest fire was started, many think the metal used for cladding contained a flammable core that propelled the flames even faster. Reporters even captured images of the burning metal pieces popping off the sides of the building and starting smaller fires on the roofs of nearby structures. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
