Why We Liked This:

Adjoined to an old chapel, this small community center sits at the edge of a town plaza, unceremoniously tucked away in the corner. The compact concrete structure features shuttered facades on both ends which can be opened to fully integrate the center into town life. The sumptuous concrete forms, left with the formwork bare, are appropriately scaled and non-threatening. The solid-void pattern of the ceiling and sidewall panels admit indirect light that frame the shady central space. The interiors are characterized by a calm beauty, offering up warm and inviting spaces to the community at large and, of course.
