We’ve seen some pretty extreme bridges lately, especially in France. From a bouncy trampoline in Paris to a quivering tight-rope walk across the Seine, the French have demonstrated a particularly keen eye for connection confections. Now their countryman Olivier Grossetete has designed ”Pont de Singe” (“Monkey Bridge”), on view at Tatton Park’s Japanese garden in Cheshire, UK. This surreal creation features a perilous-looking wooden bridge suspended by three giant helium balloons. While you’d definitely have to be light on your feet — or crazy — to tackle this airborne walkway, we’ve got to admit, it is really cool! Read more.

This is not Grossetete’s first balloon rodeo. In 2007 he created another floating bridge called “Pont Suspendu” that hovered over the Chateau Ferry Lacombe in Trent, France. His ephemeral designs look like something straight out of a fantasy, transporting viewers into a world far far away from their own.
