Object Lust: Award Designs That Deserve Their Own Prize
November 5, 2012
There’s a story arc in 30 Rock where Tracy Jordan will not rest until he EGOTs—that is, wins all the top entertainment awards: the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. While the architecture equivalent of EGOTing might be less pronounceable (PritzRIpraeBAIA?), it’s also way less blingy than the diamond-encrusted EGOT necklace Tracy wears over his tracksuit. You take home the Pritzker or the AIA gold and you get… some medals. Where’s the fun in that?
OK, OK, international acclaim is probably not un-fun, as Glamour Woman of the Year Zaha Hadid could tell you. But! We’d still like to showcase some design awards with some heft and snazz of their own. To be totally humble, we’ll start with our own A+ Awards trophy, designed by Snarkitecture. It could be yours, but only if you enter by November 9! (Though we really don’t recommend wearing it around your neck.) Click through to see our other picks!
