Awesome! Ernesto Neto Installs Net Jungle Gym In Tokyo Louis Vuitton Store

October 10, 2012

If you’ve ever wanted to get away with acting like a kid in a Louis Vuitton store, now is the time! The luxury handbag retailer’s Tokyo shop includes its own top floor art gallery that features the work of international artists throughout the year. The current exhibition, “Madness is Part of Life,” by Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto is a crazy, fun jungle-gym lounge of sorts, and it’s already drawing quite the crowd. Read more!

Architecture + Fun Japanese Art = Architizer A+ Award?

The installation is a brightly colored, netted canopy with a cushioned walkway and lounge area suspended from the ceiling. Known for his 3D interactive sculptures, Neto created the structure for people to explore, climb, and relax in while enjoying the city views from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The work’s wild shape and color represent the “madness” that can exist within pristine white walls and polished areas of a city, company, public place, or even our minds. The structure is so large and tactile that it also suggests we cannot escape the madness, and may even enjoy slipping into it once and a while. The piece is on view until January, so be sure to check it out!
