Welcome To Hotel Droog, A Carnival Funhouse For Designers!
September 27, 2012
Two weeks ago, we announced the opening of a new hotel in Amsterdam by Dutch design firm Droog. Sure, it only has one guest room, but the aptly named Hotel Droog is a funhouse of exhibits, lectures, shops, and even a fantastical fairytale garden. See more photos!
Located inside a 17th century textile factory, the hotel includes Droog designed galleries, guest suites, and a quirky cafe that serves local cuisine.
The colorful cosmetics room carries Cosmania products, and the fashion store sells the latest from Kabinet.
Even a cabin-like lounge designed by Weltevree includes a fur rug, fireplace, and plenty of room to spread out and relax.
For the indoor fairytale garden, Droog called in the help of French designers Claude Paaquer and Corinne Detroyat to fill the courtyard with edible plants that attract wildlife like birds and butterflies.
Located in the heart of the historic center of Amsterdam, the hotel/exhibition space/design store will certainly become a cultural hot spot for the city.
