Zaha Hadid + Fudge “Stage” Pop-Up Hair Salon In Art Gallery

September 13, 2012

For one week only, you can literally have your hair blown back by architecture at a pop-up salon designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. Fudge, “the hair brand for the bold of brand”, has teamed up with ZHA to create the best hashtag ever (“#ZahaFudge”!), plus a temporary salon to be housed in the architect’s London gallery. In keeping with the firm’s signature visuals, the rather primitive rendering gives no indication as to the space’s exact function, and apart from a couple token chairs, the project is more or less entirely framed as an art piece (the intention, of course). Where one might plug in a hair dryer or store the comb jar is up to anyone’s guess. There’s some sort of shriveled installation piece attached to the back wall (the failed prototypes for “Arum“, Zaha and Patrik Schumacher’s contribution to the Venice Biennale?) and empty floor motifs meant to jolt the space out of boredom. The salon opens on September 17th and will run through the 21, promising a fun, or interesting, hair experience along with a preview of Zaha’s latest design pieces.
