‘Verbandkammer’ Is A Study And Sleeping Chamber in One
September 12, 2012
It’s tough to find the perfect space to get work done. Belgian design team Nilsson Pfugfelder have created a super efficient and compact work space called the Verbandkammer. The modular structure includes steps, shelves, desks, meeting areas, and even pull out sleep quarters. Originally built for artists and hackers, it is the perfect work space for anyone planning on pulling an all nighter. Read More.
The Verbandkammer, or “combined chamber” includes 11 frames, 10 types of cladding, and over 40 components that can be separated, rearranged, or disassembled in minutes. The structure’s sharp line openings, shelves, and levels not only look cool but are extremely pragmatic, making space for folders, books, computers, and anything else one would need in a compact work space.
The designer likens the Verbandkammer to a piece of coal — compressed, layered and fossilized on the inside to create a product on the outside. However unlike coal-mining, the building of the live-work space is sustainable.
