Psychedelic-pop band Yeasayer has been known for its adventurous aesthetic choices, such as the drippy triangular prisms on the cover of their live album. When it came time to design the stage for their Fragrant World tour, they wanted to take the adventure to the next level. Enter architecture firm Aranda/Lasch, known for its parametric design, along with software artist Casey Reas, video artist Yoshi Sodeoka, and software designer Aaron Meyers, all collaborating as part of Vice and Intel’s “The Creators Project.” Read more.

Together, they created a parametric environment of triangulated mirrors, narrative lighting, and other types of awesomeness. The entire set, which has been called a “crystalline aliens cape” by its designers, is a playground for interaction, as the band can adjust many of its features. Rather than a static performance in front of a two-dimensional screen, the shows of the Fragrant World tour will be dynamic and changeable.
