What’s The ‘NEXT’ Big Idea For Sustainability?
July 17, 2012
Last month at NeoCon 2012, Interface unveiled its Urban Retreat™ collection of “green” carpet tiles, the latest offering under the company’s charge to lead the way in sustainable design. Inspired in part by the emerging studies of biophilia, Urban Retreat mimics the colors and textures of the “natural world” to bring the outside in. Biophilia is what’s “now” in sustainability. But what’s next?
Interface’s new Urban Retreat line of carpet tiles
That’s the question that Interface is asking architects and designers to answer. Launching this week, the NEXT: competition asks for your video submissions that show and tell your ideas for the next big leap in sustainability. All you need is your smartphone, tablet, or camera (and maybe a tripod) to film and upload your short video (30 seconds to 2 minutes in length) that gives us a peek into your vision for a greener, cleaner world. Entry is open to U.S. architects and interior designers through August 13, and Canadian entrants beginning September 3 through October 1. The collected films will be screened at viewing parties in 11 markets across North America. Viewers will be able to vote for the most interesting ideas online through the fall, and the winning video from each of the 11 contest regions will move on to a national contest at year’s end. Join the discussion and show the world what’s NEXT: now.
