When will our culture’s  ravenous hunger for Titanic-related media end? This month you can see the 1997 movie in 3D, cross the Atlantic on a Titanic memorial cruise, and now, stop by Titanic Belfast to check out a recreation of the ship’s grand staircase.

Belfast, Ireland — the city where the Titanic was built — has opened a visitor center that takes a closer look at the disaster and recreates some of the ship’s more famous details. The project constitutes  Northern Ireland’s largest-ever tourist project (they expect up to a million visitors a year), and sprang from a collaboration between Concept Design Architects CivicArts/Eric R Kuhne & Associates and the Lead Consultant/Architect Todd Architects. The project took three years to complete (the same length of time it took to build the ship itself), and clocks in at 14,000 square meters  (the same number of times you saw probably the movie if you already knew that).
