The Modern Architecture Game, For the Weekends You’re Not Working
January 30, 2012
This had to come sooner or later. Spotted on Archinect this morning: the pithily named ‘Modern Architecture Game’ from Amsterdam-based NEXTarchitects, a trivia board game for those who can recite manifestos and sling Mies van der Rohe anecdotes like Facebook status updates. The directions are simple: “Answer the question correctly and you’re one step closer at winning the Modern Architecture Game. Give a wrong answer, and the infamous round glasses of Le Corbusier are passed on to the next player.” We all knew those buildings would make great game pieces, and we can’t help but appreciate the cheekiness of a game board that plays up the hard-lined rationalism of Percival Goodman’s urbanisms. We do, however, fear for the pretentious bickering and intern hazing that might come with this.
