When we covered Li Han’s wonderful isometric drawings of Beijing’s urban centers this past summer, we noted that the tableaux “go beyond the architecture of buildings, investigating, rather, the lives of architecture, which is to say, documenting how architecture is used, what it has witnessed, and in what ways it learns to adapt.” Han, who with Atelier 11, has recently released a book of the stereoscopic drawings, appended with photos, guides, and additional illustrations that document that labyrinthine urban spaces of San Li Tun and 798 in Beijing. Entitled A Little Bit of Beijing, the firm writes that the book “rejects promotions on ‘must-buy’ or ‘must-try’ as all the other travel guides include, but advocates specific and independent urban wander.” Han has also co-founded the lifestyle brand SQY-T, which has produced a clothing and accessory line to coincide with the book’s release. The beautifully detailed graphics are here applied to a tees, silk scarfs, bags, umbrellas, and stationery. Click to see more of the wares!
