Steve Jobs’s Technical Drawings
August 25, 2011
You’ve probably heard by now, but Steve Jobs resigned his position as CEO at Apple yesterday. He’ll stay on as Chairman of the Board, and as an “Apple Employee” (his words).
Jobs’ resignation letter didn’t mention causation (speculation about his health has run rampant over the last two years), but media outlets worldwide are taking the opportunity to run (morbidly?) eulogistic pieces on his legacy as a cultural phenomenon.
Meanwhile, The New York Times has a great matrix of the 313 patents Jobs is named on. It’s a fascinating look at how Apple’s product design has evolved over the last three decades. The drawings range from the glass staircases ubiquitous in Apple stores to the packaging assembly that made opening up a new iPad or iPod a ritualistic experience.
