Who Is Edgartista?
For a few weeks, we have seen the artwork of an artist on our Facebook wall. Edgartista, or Edgar Gonzalez, is a Guatemalan transplant who now lives in New York.
His designs can best be described as black and white amalgams of famous architectural landmarks. His recent series, ‘12 Masters of Architecture,’ takes a famous architect and mashes together all of his or her respective buildings.
We noticed his work on our Facebook wall and asked him to send over a few more from the Masters of Architecture series. A fun aspect of looking at his work is trying to identify all of the buildings that make up the amalgam. When viewed from afar, these mash-ups begin resembling pre-Columbian war masks – perhaps a nod to his years growing up in Central America.

This is one of the best drawing designs I have seen in a while. I was really examining them and looking at each one trying to see how many buildings I can name off the spot and how he drew them with precision.

I am thoroughly impressed by his unique perspective on architecture and culture, as well as the talent to draw it!
I appreciate the effort to amalgamate the styles within these pieces, but I think slightly more attention to detail might be a worthy next stage for them as the scales could bring out another deeper level of detail and care giben to these specific designers. the reason I make this point is because the main thing that I see as differentiating between these specific architects and some others that have sexy macro images is that these projects are built, and built well for the most part, and the different levels of detail are a differentiating detail between them and some others that could be perceived as similar, but are far less elegant, big west coast hugs to Edgartista for the precedent.
Nice Drawings and expressive!
I was fortunate to meet the artist Edgar while searching for talent to include in ArtBooks I’ve created called “Artists An International Network Volume I & II.” I featured Edgar Volume II http://www.blurb.com/search/site_search?search=Claudette+McDermott&filter=all&commit=Search
and a sampling of his work along with his contact information, as well as a few other artists. An amazing talent I expect Edgar to have an exceptional journey with his art with some lucky promoter who will take his work to the next level. Best of Luck Edgar ~ fellow artist Claudette McDermott of Poetry On Canvas.
