GIVEAWAY: Fernando Romero’s Simplexity

April 15, 2011

Presenting a selection of projects combining master planning, cultural exchange and socio-political research, LAR/Fernando Romero: Simplexity provides an overview of the architect’s visions, designs and buildings organized from from the orthogonal to the fluid and organic.

Published by Hatje Cantz, the monograph marks the anniversary of the Mexico City firm, now rebranded as FREE Fernando Romero EnterprisE, founded by Romero ten years ago after a three-year stint at OMA in Rotterdam. One of the exalted ‘Baby Rems,’ Romero is on course to become one of his generation’s most promising architects.

Click through to find out how you can win a free monograph!

HOW TO WIN: Check our FREE Fernando Romero EnterprisE‘s project page on Architizer and let us know your favorite project in the comments below. One winner will be selected at random to score a free copy of Simplexity. Deadline is Tuesday, April 19. UPDATE: Jeffrey Baker, come on down! You were chosen at random to win one copy of the book — congrats!

p. 42-43: Bicentennial Moebius Ring, Mexico City (2009)

p. 76-77: Children’s Room for a private client, Mexico City (2000-1)

The recently-opened Museo Soumaya in Mexico City (funded by Mexico’s richest billionaire, Carlos Slim, who also happens to be Romero’s father-in-law) is the building that just might make Romero famous, though he’s completed a vast array of buildings in his ten years on the scene. Part of the core team has also moved into a Chelsea loft in New York, so with any luck the US will soon benefit from Romero’s forays into luxury apartments, low-cost housing projects, museums, banks, schools, bridges.

p. 162-3: Progression of models for the Museo Soumaya from August 2005 to February 2008

p. 192-3: Construction of Museo Soumaya, Mexico City

p. 172-3: Programmatic distribution diagrams for Museo Soumaya, Mexico City

If you don’t win our giveaway, never fear! Simplexity is in stock and ready to ship from Amazon, here.
