Architizer Guest Blogger Contest!
Architizer is headed to sunny Florida for Coverings, the largest tile + stone expo in North America, and we’re looking for an intrepid design enthusiast to report on the most exciting trends and news at the show.
Are you mad for mosaic tile? Does stone make you swoon?
If so, then tell us in 200 words or less why you would be the ideal candidate to be part of the Coverings VIP Tour as the Architizer Guest Blogger.
If we think you have what it takes to spot the latest trends in tile and stone – and believe us, Coverings is the place to find them – you could win an all-expenses paid trip to the show, including:
- Round trip Airfare to Orlando, Florida from April 27-29
- Two-night stay at the Peabody Hotel
- Behind-the-Scenes Tour of Disney World
- Guided tours of the show floor
- Complimentary meals at the area’s premiere restaurants
Entries will be accepted via email at contest@architizer.com from Monday, March 29 to Monday, April 5. The winner will be announced Tuesday, April 6.
Please note: In entering the competition, you acknowledge that you are a member of Architizer.com, and that you will be available to travel to Orlando, FL, from April 27-29 and participate in a tour designed for editorial VIPs. (Heck…if you’re an Architect or Designer, you can even spec product for a project while you’re there!)
First, I’m technically unemployed. Yeah, I “own” my own firm, but what graduate of architecture school doesn’t say that. I pick up work here and there, but it’s slim out there. I spend a lot of my time looking at and researching materials that I like, and this would be a real opportunity to get some first hand accounts of the latest and greatest. Second, I am a huge fan of Disneyland (I still have a season pass and I live 450 miles away), and the opportunity to go behind the scenes of Disney World is like a dream come true. Heck, I apply to a job at Disney like once a month just in hopes that I can get in there! Last, my wife is an accomplished writer, and this will give me the opportunity to get my name in print so that I can keep up with her. Living with another architect is fun (although in school we all say that we would never do it…), It’s a competitive relationship.
Oh, and the tile and stone should be pretty awesome too! Given the chance, i’m pretty sure you’ll end up with a blog that is informative, and a whole lot of fun!
Architect degree graduate of the college of architecture and urbanism ritter the Kings in 2000, an expert on cultural heritage in urban centers the College of Architecture and Urbanism, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Department of Planning in August 2005, Master of Urban and Regional Planning Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul with the title of the dissertation The offer fantastic Urbanism to the cities imaginary magazine designed for comic book Heavy Metal, December 2008.
I’d love to participate, because it can see a show in a country with great technology, I can shoot fantastic designs.

As architects and specifiers, your readers deserve professional coverage of Coverings. I am a journalist, trend spotter, creative writer and experienced blogger with a nose for news. My appreciation of architecture and the built environment was stoked during the five years I spent at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. I have also been an editor for the owner-targeted publication, BUILDINGS where I wrote extensively about the building products industry, regularly covering annual trends in color, design, and fabrication across a broad range of building materials, both within and outside of the context of environmental issues.
The skills I bring include: a knowledge of blog writing including the various style of blogs (reviews, announcement, surveys, etc.) which are meant to create their own buzz, inspire readers to return for more and share informative posts with both others (potentially building your own audience) and with the indexing sites that can help raise your search relevance. I will also offer tweets and postings suitable for your Facebook page.
I hope you will consider my enthusiasm, my interest in the built environment, and my journalistic experience and agree that I am the best person to blog for you at Coverings.

I’m a freelance writer: I write about architecture and design for consumer shelter magazines, trades and special interest publications. I’ve written for Dwell, Domino, Better Homes and Gardens SIPs, among others. My primary focus is tile and each year I write anywhere from six to ten articles about tile.
This will be my ninth year attending Coverings, so I know my way around and I have a lot of contacts. I’m able to spot the trends and won’t be overwhelmed by the enormous selection.
I’ll be writing about the show for my blog, “Tile Style” (letstalktile.blogspot.com), but I’d love to share what I find with Architizer and your readers.
As a freelancer, I’ve always had to travel to Coverings on my own dime, so I’d be delighted to win this contest. Thank you for your consideration.
Hi…… post good
