Editor’s Pick: Portland’s Duplex Villa
March 9, 2011
Located in Portland, Oregon, the tandemDUO house designed by Works Partnership Architecture (W.PA) presents a innovative take on a traditional split-level duplex and a new typology for the typical developments in closely-packed Portland neighborhoods. Finding inspirationin Corbusier’s split-level concept for Villa Carthage, W.PA stacked interlocking interior spaces leading to an exterior roof garden.

“The main living space in each house is highlighted by a corten cladding. The cladding is a perforated sheet that provides screening at windows in the broad face planes.”
