Architizer BETA: Welcome!

architizer_blog_cards_welcome2Welcome to Architizer Beta!

The whole Architizer team in New York City and Berlin is excited to welcome you to Architizer Beta. Architizer revolutionizes the way architecture is communicated. It is a free tool with an open platform that transcends its peers to empower architecture in the current economic recession. Architizer provides a professional, cultural and intellectual place for architects, architecture curators, clients, critics and fans, to interact.  Personal, firm and project profiles all link to each other to create an online space that reveals the dynamic connections that shape today’s great architecture.

On this website, architects and firms can easily upload information and tag photos of their most recent projects. A curator can announce a new architectural exhibition or event. A developer can hire an architect based on their work. A client can show-off a new building, and fans can share photos of projects they have visited. Every profile is featured on a global map and advanced search tools help users locate and discover projects.

Created by architects for architects, Architizer’s design is predicated on giving credit where credit is due. A single project may have dozens of contributors and Architizer links them all, from the intern to the construction manager. Architizer also features an interactive job board, a competition page, design school profiles and guest contributors to comment on the latest profiles.

[...] Architizer, a new professional and social networking site for the architecture world, launched yesterday. The brainchild of a group of young architects, Web designers, and curators, the site lets users create personal and firm profiles, upload project photos, announce exhibitions and events, and browse jobs and competitions. It’s too early to tell how useful Architizer will actually be—that will depend on how many people sign up and take advantage of its features—but already several big-name firms have created profiles, including Archi-Tectonics, Steven Holl Architects, and OMA. It’s worth noting, however, that the site seems just as interested in the little guy toiling away in obscurity. The founders write in a welcome message: [...]

Very nice, guys! I have to figure out how my institution can properly fit into this model (which is a bit firm-biased at the moment) but I promise to create a profile once I do! See you soon, JJK

“For architects by architects”? Isn’t the challenge to transcend this isolated peer group, reach out to the other decision makers, and try convince them about the true value architects and related designers bring?

I just want to thank you guys for what seems to be exactly what I wanted. As a student getting ready to graduate this year it is perfect timing! I am excited to see where this goes & expect that it will be quite successful. Thanks for all of your effort!
